Banana Boat is a sun block company in Australia. The application is a “summer fun” application, which has all the essential information for trip to the beach. It includes a database of all the beaches and parks in Australia, weather information, ratings system, and an events calendar. Using the GPS, the application can generate information based on your location.
I was included in part of the team to create a solution to what the “summer fun” application could include, not only did I design the application, I also thought through what technologies could be used and how the application was organised.
My main role was to design the entire application without any guidelines. Having no guidelines was a good and a bad thing. I had creative freedom but no explicit boundaries, which made a challenge not knowing what the client expected. The overall visual solution was an application that would appeal to a young adult market, but with a strong flavour of simple illustration that would appeal to parents with young children.
